Only 0.6 per cent of BSNL's landline subscribers migrated to the company's OneIndia tariff plan

News , April 15, 2006

According to BSNL, only about 0.6 per cent of its 38 million landline subscribers have so far chosen to migrate to the company's OneIndia tariff plan, under which nationwide call rates have been brought down to Re 1 per minute. According to the company, over 230,000 users have moved to the OneIndia Plan while there are about 7,000 pending allocations. According to company officials, the PSU requires a 40 per cent increase in call traffic to make up for the Rs 6 billion loss it is likely to incur on account of the reduced OneIndia tariffs.
