RailTel, GailTel and Powergrid may recruit officials transferred from BSNL to DoT
November 22, 2011
RailTel, GailTel and Powergrid reportedly plan to explore the possibility of recruiting over 200 of the 1,500 plus Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officials who have been transferred to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
The three companies, PSUs are part of a special purpose vehicle that will execute the Rs 200 billion national broadband project. More than 1,500 ITS officers who were deputed to BSNL when it was spun off into a separate corporate entity have now been asked to return to DoT’s technical wing.
However, BSNL has asked for special permission to retain the executives who wish to return to DoT.
