According to TRAI, 3 million subscribers were added during the A month of August 2005, as compared to 2.72 million subscriber additions in July 2005. More than 2.74 million subscribers were added in the mobile segment during August 2005 compared to 2.45 million in July 2005. The total mobile subscriber base reached 62.57 million at the end of August 2005. In the fixed line segment, 270,000 subscribers were added during the month, the same as in July 2005, taking the total fixed line subscriber base to 47.44 million. The gross subscriber base (including fixed and mobile users) touched 110 million, as of end August 2005. As a result, the teledensity has reached 10.12 as compared to 9.86 at the end of the previous month. The broadband segment too saw similar growth and crossed 5.3 million connections as in August 2005.
