Bharti Airtel in discussions with Aircel for spectrum trading
October 07, 2015
Bharti Airtel is reportedly in talks with Aircel to buy the latter’s 4G spectrum in the 2300 MHz band. The transaction is likely to be done through the spectrum trading route.
At present, Bharti Airtel uses a mix of 1800 MHz and 2300 MHz spectrum for the provision of 4G services in 15 circles across the country. Aircel holds spectrum in eight circles. With the new move, Bharti Airtel would be able to expand its 4G footprint across 18 circles.
Meanwhile, the deal is expected to help Aircel reduce its debt which is around Rs 200 billion at present.- Most Viewed
