Telenor India has reported an increase of 91.3 per cent in its net loss from NOK 195 million for the quarter ended September 2014 to NOK 373 million for the corresponding quarter in 2015. The operator has attributed this to the accelerated depreciation and write-downs of its network inventories of around NOK 184 million as well as costs of around NOK 55 million related to the rebranding of its operations in the country to from Uninor to Telenor.

Meanwhile, the operator’s revenues increased by 31.8 per cent from NOK 1.07 billion during the quarter ended September 2014 to NOK 1.41 billion during the quarter ended September 2015.

Further, the company’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBIDTA) loss stood at NOK 58 million for the quarter ended September 2015, compared to NOK 136 million in the quarter ended September 2014.

The operator’s subscriber base increased by 1 million during the quarter ended September 2015. However, the average revenue per user (ARPU) declined by 12 per cent year-on-year to Rs 91 during the quarter ended September 2015. The decline was primarily driven by lower voice consumption and the impact from reduced mobile interconnection rate.
