BSNL recorded profits in three telecom circles in 2013-14, says the Ministry of Communications and IT
According to the Ministry of Communications and IT, the state-run telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recorded profits in only three telecom circles out of the 22 circles in 2013-14. These circles are Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir and Odisha. The company posted an overall loss of Rs 69.33 billion.
The Kerala circle recorded a profit of Rs 3.96 billion in 2013-14, while the operator witnessed a net income of Rs 93.7 million and Rs 51.6 million in the circles of Jammu and Kashmir and Odisha respectively.
Meanwhile, the ministry is of the view that BSNL needs to make a substantial improvement in its performance and the government has also been taking measures to address the company’s problems.
