Strong performance by HTIL's Indian mobile telephony business

HTIL's Indian mobile telephony business contributed about 49 per cent, or HK$2.3 billion, to the company's operating profit of HK$4.7 billion during January-June 2006. This segment also contributed 45 per cent of HTIL's turnover – HK$7.08 billion out of HK$15.5 billion. This helped cushion its start-up costs in other markets such as Indonesia and Vietnam.
