US-based operator, AT&T is going to acquire Massachusetts-based service provider, Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc (ATN) for $780 million.

Currently, ATN offers telecom services under the brand name ‘Alltel’ covering regions such as Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina. The operator has a subscriber base of 590,000.

Currently, the handset manufacturer is looking for a buyer as it is steadily losing market share to leading smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple.
