Long distance major Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) expects to post a 200 per cent increase in revenues in financial year 2006, to Rs 102.3 billion from Rs 34.1 billion in financial year 2004, making it one of the largest telecom companies in the country in revenue terms. The increase in revenue would follow the merger of Teleglobe International Holdings with the company. The projected revenue growth takes into consideration the revenues of Teleglobe International, which posted $738 million during the nine-month period from January to September 2005. The merger will reportedly make the Tata group company the third largest international voice provider in the world, next only to US-based AT&T and MCI.
