ZTE to build TD- LTE network for China Mobile

ZTE has bagged a contract to build China Mobile's TD-long term-evolution (LTE) network in five Chinese cities.

China Mobile had invited bids for the project in August 2012. The tender included contracts for about 20,000 base stations and 52,000 carrier sectors.

Besides ZTE, other telecom equipment vendors like Huawei, Ericsson and Nokia Siemens also participated in the bidding.

Commenting on winning the contract, Wang Shouchen, vice president, ZTE, says, "ZTE has been highly committed to TD-LTE as a strategic product. As a leader in LTE, our company is both capable of and confident in bringing excellent results to China Mobile."

As of August 2012, ZTE has constructed various trial LD-LTE networks and nine commercial networks for 38 operators in 26 countries of Europe, commonwealth of independent states, Asia Pacific, Southeast Asia and North America.
