R. Chandrashekhar has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Telecommunications and Chairman, Telecom Commission. Prior to this, he served as Secretary, Department of Information and Technology.

Shashikant Sharma, who is currently the Director-General (Acquisitions) in the Ministry of Defence will take over his post.
