Telecom infrastructure company, UTStarcom, has appointed Vikas Giridhar as general manager – sales to head the company’s North India operations.

He will report directly to Rahul Pandey, Director, Sales and Marketing, UTStarcom India. Prior to joining UTStarcom, Giridhar worked with Cisco as the sales lead – Wi-Fi, Software Defined Networks and Optical Business – Asia Pacific, Japan and China. Further, he has worked with organisations such as Motorola, Avaya Global Connect, 3D Networks, Alcatel Business Systems India and Godrej India.

Commenting on Giridhar’s appointment, William Wong, chief executive officer, UTStarcom, said, “As government initiatives like ‘Make in India’, ‘Digital India’, National Optical Fibre Network and Wi-Fi deployment are driving the Indian telecom market, UTStarcom plans to expand it horizons in India by supporting government initiatives. With new appointments, we are strengthening our business network in India and hiring across different levels to create a skillful pool of industry experts. Giridhar will be offering his expertise in start-ups, sales management, channel management and development and direct sales/account management, and help UTStarcom achieve predefined business growth in North India.”
