Cisco reorganises its India team

June 09, 2014

The United-States based technology provider Cisco has reorganised its leadership team in India. The company has promoted Dinesh Malkani as president (sales) for India and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region. Earlier, he was serving as vice-president, sales, India and SAARC region.

Malkani will take over from Jeff White and will report directly to Irving Tan, Cisco’s president, Asia Pacific and Japan. He will be responsible for driving the company’s senior level external engagement, including those with government and industry associations.

In addition to assigning new responsibilities to Malkani, Cisco has also elevated Amit Phadnis as president (engineering and India site leader) and V C Gopalratnam as president (strategy, planning and operations) for India chief information officer, Asia Pacific and Japan and Greater China.

In his new role, Phadnis will lead Cisco’s focus on innovation, ecosystem and talent development in the country. He will also be responsible for driving the university relations strategy and talent development for the employee base in India.

Meanwhile, in a newly created role of president of strategy, planning and operations for Cisco India, Gopalratnam will oversee enablement of the company’s priorities of inclusion and diversity, employee volunteering and corporate social responsibility.

Together, the three leaders are going to focus on greater integration between Cisco’s sales, engineering and other functions within India.
