STel, which has UAS licences to operate in six category C circles S in eastern and north-eastern India, is planning to withdraw its applications for 2G licences in the remaining 16 circles. Earlier, S Tel's licence applications were refused by DoT on the grounds thatthe company had applied for the licences after the cut-off date (September 25, 2007). Following this order, S Tel filed a petition with the Delhi High Court against DoT. The operator now plans to save its resources for the upcoming 3G licence auctions.
