MTNL has floated a Rs 2.1 billion tender to procure broadband access network equipment for its Delhi and Mumbai circles, expected to be awarded in May. With the equipment, it plans toexpand its broadband services, including internet connectivity and other value-added services like virtual private networks (VPNs), video multicast, and video-on-demand over DSL lines.

For financial year 2007-08, MTNL has targeted to achieve 500,000 broadband users. Currently, the company has around 300,000 broadband subscribers and a waiting list of 18,000 and 8,000 subscribers in Mumbai and Delhi respectively.
