US-based broadband wireless solutions provider Aperto Networks will provide BSNL with Wi-Max Packet-Max 5000 base stations and PM300 subscriber units across Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune, and four rural districts in Haryana. These would enable BSNL to offer high-speed internet access and broadband data communication lines. The PSU plans to use Wi-Max technology to provide broadband connection in rural areas. To this end, it will add 1,000 Wi-Max towers to cover 20,000-30,000 villages by mid-2007.
