News , September 29, 2015

Paytm has entered into an agreement with Mumbai Metro for online recharges and ticketing. It also plans to tie-up with Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai metro soon.

The company is entering into new segments to provide its m-wallet services in order to increase its gross merchandise value to $3 billion-$4 billion by the end-2015. Meanwhile, Paytm has recently stated that its wallet is now accepted by over 80,000 merchants, and it plans to reach the 10 million merchants mark by the end-2016.

According to the Internet and Mobile Association of India, India’s online travel market was estimated to be $8 billion in 2014 and likely to register an exponential growth in 2015. Paytm is of the view that as the marketplace expands to encompass hotels and travel agents, service providers will be able to put up their inventory with its do-it-yourself platform.
