Data traffic grew by 55 per cent YoY for quarter ended June 2015: Ericsson
The global telecom market witnessed an addition of 53 million new subscribers during the quarter ended June 2015, thereby increasing the total subscriber base to 7.2 billion as of June 2015. India witnessed the maximum net additions during the quarter under review at 12 million, followed by Myanmar at 5 million, Nigeria and US each at 4 million and Bangladesh at 3 million. In terms of region, Asia-Pacific region saw maximum net additions at 22 million, followed by Africa at 20 million and North America at 5 million.
Meanwhile, there was a 55 per cent year-on-year (YoY) growth in the total data traffic across the world from quarter ended June 2014 to quarter ended June 2015. Quarter-on-quarter growth for the three month period ended June 2015 for global data traffic stood at 15 per cent.
