The finance ministry clears the proposal for reducing the fee for unified access service licences

July 15, 2006

The finance ministry has, in principle, cleared a proposal for reducing the fee for unified access service licences (UASL). The ministry has asked DoT to provide detailed projections on the revenue impact of a uniform 6 per cent fee for UASLs. Currently, telecom operators providing basic and cellular services under UASL have to pay a licence fee of 6-10 per cent of their adjusted gross revenue for their respective circles.
