China waits for TD-SCDMA to mature before issuing 3G licences

Meanwhile, China is reportedly waiting for TD-SCDMA to mature before issuing 3G licences. China Telecom, the mainland's biggest fixed line phone company, intends to offer 3G services around eight months after it gets a licence, based on trials of TD-SCDMA. China Mobile and China Unicom have also been authorised to conduct a TD-SCDMA trial run on the mainland.
