VSNL is planning to launch fixed line services in South Africa by July 2006. At an estimated project cost of $1 billion, spread over a period of four years, VSNL will provide basic services along with its South African telecom partner, SNO, in which it has a 26 per cent stake. VSNL has the licence to provide all telecom services in the country, barring mobile services.
