Government approves appointment of Anupam Shrivastava as BSNL CMD
The government has reportedly approved the appointment of Anupam Shrivastava as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The approval has come from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.
The Public Enterprise Selection Board had shortlisted Anupam Shrivastava for the position of CMD of BSNL in 2013. At present, he is serving as the Director of the consumer mobility business at BSNL. Shrivastava's tenure as CMD was to begin from May 1, 2013 but then telecom minister held back the recommendation and granted an extension to R K Upadhyay till June 30, 2013.
At present, A N Rai, Director of the enterprises business at BSNL is handling the additional charge of CMD.
