Reliance Communications reorganises its top management

Reliance Communications (RCOM) has made some key changes in its top management team.

Following the restructuring exercise, Nilanjan Mukherjee will lead the RCOM’s CDMA business. He is currently serving as the chief marketing officer at the company. RCOM has also appointed Ramesh Menon as the head for its GSM business. Menon recently joined RCOM from Bharti Airtel. Both, Mukherjee and Menon will report directly to Gurdeep Singh, president and chief executive officer, wireless business, RCOM.

Going forward, RCOM also plans to assign its current chief operating officer, Shamik Das another role within the organisation.

With an aim to strengthen its position in the telecom market, RCOM has, in the last few months, hired several key professionals who have been associated with its competitors such as Vodafone India and Bharti Airtel. As part of the new team at RCOM, Amit Das from Vodafone India will head the company’s human resources division while Munish Kanotra, former senior vice-president at Bharti Airtel, will lead the company’s post-paid and data business. Meanwhile, Deepak Khanna who was earlier with Tulip Telecom is spearheading RCOM’s enterprise business.
